It's Monday again! Time to stretch out muscles stiff from being parked in front of the football games and get ready for another work week!
Maybe that is why Paul, in 1 Thess. 5:16-18 reminds us to "Rejoice always, PRAY WITHOUT CEASING, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (emphasis mine). Without trying to stretch the analogy too thin, let me just say that I think that too often in our lives some of our "prayer muscles" become stiff with disuse. Let's use them all on a regular basis; not just the ones we use when we ask God for something. Notice that Paul puts rejoicing and giving thanks on either side of prayer, and that all three things are a part of God's will for our lives. Remember that it is only by the power of the blood of Jesus that we can converse with the Father through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let's build up our muscles constantly so that when the next big game of spiritual dodge ball comes up we are ready to play!

I saw this little devotional and was really touched by it and I hope that you all will be too. So many times we pray only asking God of something. We should pray always and not ask or expect something of God. I hope that you all have a wonderful week!

I agree Mrs. Lawson ;) After the message Sunday I have realized that I have been losing too many battles in my mind, in part, because i have not been excersisng my prayer muscles. I should spend each day praying without ceasing so that my mind will be ready for the battle. I pray that the seed that was planted Sunday will furish, and that my greenhouse will be pleasing to God.

rejoicing, prayer, and thankfulness. The three legs to the stool of a great and carefree life. If we rejoice in the heart for the good things, the gifts, and the life God has given us, and if we keep a spirit of thanksgiving toward God who gives us his benefits, then surely we will live not just a successful life, but one that is free from the burdens and concerns that so often get us down. Moreover, if we include those elements in our constant prayers, then we not only have a carefree life, but a powerful, strong, and effective life. What a great thought you gave us? That will preach one day. Also, I have noticed that on Monday I followed the devotion, but on Tuesday and this morning I was not as dedicated to it and I can tell the difference in the daily battles that I face.

I am sure that you could preach a great message from this devotion! Yes, I can tell a difference in my daily life when I fail to do what I know I should do. I am glad that you all were as touched by this devotion as I was. It's something we should all work on in our lives daily! Have a great week and I am looking forward to service Sunday morning!
